![]() ![]() ![]() There needs to be more space this time around, but I don’t think it can be this dramatic ![]() The old music got incredibly fucking obnoxious after awhile looping the same shit. I think this music isn’t a good fit for the game, as it jumps way too hard in the ambient direction- but we also have to be mindful of player fatigue too. That has to somehow be cohesive with the game, and consonant with rendering tech and overall believability if you don’t want it being a shit show. You have to reinterpret what an explosion would look like, what blood sprays would be like, how gun recoil would be, what locational damage would look like, how lighting would change the environment. There are so many blanks that must be filled with a remake on modern engines for modern hardware- that you really didn’t have to worry about before. The believability is different, and you can make out details you couldn’t. I’m not saying it makes you change genres entirely, but it won’t be so clear cut as it was before. You cannot do a 1:1 remake, even if you recoded and redeveloped the exact same game- in every way, from scratch. There is zero possible way the vibe won’t be different. That’s the nature of making things on new tools and new tech. The graphics and lighting tech, physics, and animations are different, and absolutely will be regardless of who made it. ![]()
